In un precedente post l'azione del catalogare è stata analizzata attraverso i processi mentali che ci permettono di organizzare i ricordi secondo dei processi di priorità. Grazie a questi processi siamo in grado di creare dei ricordi, catalogati come in un album di fotografie: ogni memoria è una "fotografia" in grado di catturare una persona o un'esperienza attraverso un suono, un'immagine, un odore,... La canzone "When We Were Young" di Adele riprende questo concetto: catalogare i nostri ricordi in un modo che non corrisponde alla realtà ma che ci permettere di riverli incessantemente. L'estrema fobia del n°13, riconosciuta come triskaidekaphobia , è il motivo per cui in molti hotel non viene indicato l'omonimo piano o stanza (13, 113, 213,...) La stessa cosa accade con la disposizione dei posti a sedere sugli aeroplani. Molto spesso la numerazione passa dal numero 12 al 14 direttamente. Un altro ambito di superstizione in cui si può individuare il principio di catalogazione è la Smorfia Napoletana.  In ogni smorfia un vocabolo, un evento, una figura o un oggetto, è trasformato in uno o più numeri, attraverso una codifica che prevede un numero diverso a seconda del contesto. 17 = 'a disgrazia 57 = 'o scartellato Per approfondire:  Time , Il Tredicesimo piano , La smorfia napoletana
